SIBU: Three Bintulu hotels have launched a promotional package specifically for the upcoming Borneo International Kite Festival on Aug 16 to 24.
New World Suites, Regency Plaza Hotel and Parkcity Everly Hotel have launched a three-day, two-night package as part of strategies to promote the festival.
Shukarmin Chasemon the chairman of Sarawak Tourism Federation (Bintulu) officiated at the launching ceremony at Paramount Hotel here last Friday. Regency Plaza Hotel general manager Low San Pan, STF Sibu liaison committee chairman Frankie Ting and Sarawak Tourism Board (Sibu) executive Rudy Anoi were among those present.
The kite festival has entered its third year this year and the venue is still the Bintulu old airport. It is an event organised by Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), in collaboration with Bintulu Resident Office, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, Sarawak Kite Association, Malaysia Kite Council. Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Art and Heritage, and the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism.
The highlight of the festival will be an attempt to launch 'The Most Number of Kites Flying Simultaneously' which the organisers hope to be entered into the Malaysia Book of Records, at 1.30pm on Aug 17. It is also an event held in conjunction with BDA's 30th anniversary.
The organisers have so far received about 1,700 entries and they are expecting more in the coming days as participation is free-of-charge.

All the participants will be given certificate printed with MBR logo, gifts, and are also entitled to participate in lucky draws with prizes totalling up to RM20,000. |
